Bob apologized for not getting the GM Meeting notice out sooner. He has been given a lot of additional responsibility at work that is taking and will continue to take most of his time – week and weekends.
March 12, 2011 – Hooter’s Cr Show – delayed from last Saturday due to bad weather. We hated to have to postpone it but it would not have been enjoyable with the weather. There are a lot of new cars coming: Camaro Convertible, special Mustang and Capitol Chevrolet is bringing several cars... Chip Evans at Capitol Chevrolet could not be more supportive of our efforts. We will set up at 7:15 – Bob needs all the volunteers he can get to assist in the set up operation. We will also need folks to assist in parking cars. Bob asked for people to bring any tents they have just in case we need more. There will be a lot of door prizes and picture plaques. We will finish up at 2:00 and leave around 2:30 to cruise together to Grady Alabama and the
Website – Thanks to Deb Carter for updating our GM website. They still need pictures of your car, particularly at any of the GM events from the past. Just email those pictures to Deb or Ken. Thanks Deb for taking on this responsibility and doing a great job. Check it out if you have not seen it recently.
Ken Carter – new membership chair – distributed new member club cards to everyone in attendance. He displayed the new name tags for all members and will be creating new dash plaques for everyone. Ken has been a busy member. There will be new applications also. If you can get 5 new members to join, your membership dues for the next year will be free. This incentive should get you asking all your friends to join us. He also is creating a welcome package for new members to include a congratulations cover letter, explanation of the club, explanation of the dyno picnic event, welcome letter and application. Thanks Ken for an outstanding job.
Valve Cover Races – Ken Carter has also been researching a new event for the club – Valve Cover Races. He brought one for display tonight. Wheels can be anything from old wheels off a skate board, inline skates to CDs. There will be classes depending on how “stock” or “modified” your valve cover is. You can use aluminum, steel, carbon fiber, etc. The make-up will determine your class in the races. Weight of the valve cover will also be a factor. Ken is compiling a list of rules and regulations. Race will be for the first one to cross the finish line. Mark Reese has designed the track and will build it for the club. There will be demo race at the Flip’s cruise-in in July so plan on coming to that to see the “debut” of the GM Club’s valve cover races.
