On a business note - I am a life insurance agent and yesterday I had to deal with a very sad death that the family did not expect.
They had their cars, boat, home and even a ring well insured for a loss. Possessions that have to be paid for by the income of the joint spouses. They did not insure the income of the husband with life insurance. They had postponed the second Financial Needs Life appointment with me till January. They were going to purchase our 20 year term with total return of premium at end of the 20 years.
We first reviewed and they agreed on the plans in Oct. They wanted to wait till Jan. Now the widow is facing a loss and a financial crisis for her and the 2 kids.
He had a small 15,000 group term life and 100,000 accidental death.
This heart attack and death makes me wonder if I did all that I could to inform this family in Oct. I don't push people, I do a total needs review and offer life options for a solution. I did that, Maybe this family needed the pushy salesman. I really feel bad that I did not get them to go ahead instead of waiting.
Please take time to insure your income, review your family insurance program with an insurance professional whoever you like or currently use. Your life insurance is as important as any plan of protection you own.
People and the banks worry about health, home and car insurance.
It is up to you to worry and plan for the loss of income at the death of a spouse with LIFE INSURANCE. Talk to your friends, family and adult children and urge them to take a few minutes and do some planning.
This has happened to me before being a agent for 28 years. Early last year, it was a single mother with one 6 year old daughter. I had already taken the information and completed an application. She was going to stop to sign and pay. I called her on the job and they informed me that she was no longer there. When I asked about her new employer they informed me she had a stroke and died. She was age 36 and her mother needed the insurance for her little girl.
Thank you for letting me vent a little, this really bothers me.
I just feel like I want to share this with my friends and you guys are like my extended family.
Thanks,
Bob Hinson
In this holiday season let us remember those that may be less fortunate that us.
We have learned about a local family that has fallen on hard times. Due to problems with their home they have had to move into a rental. With a single income they are barely able to make the payments on the rental let along make the necessary repairs to their original home in order to make it habitable.
Please look into your hearts to see if you can help make this a special Christmas for a mother and 4 young ladies ages 14 months, 8, 11 and 15.
Send your Checks to me. Make them to the GM HP Club and memo them FOR XMAS FAMILY. I will update everyone of progress.
